What to include on a threading and waxing invoice
- Your business name, phone number and email — and your license number if your state puts one on the paperwork
- The customer's name, the service address, and a phone number or email you can actually reach them on
- An invoice number and the date the work was done
- Every area on its own line — brows, lip, chin, underarm — even when the whole ticket is under $40
- Threading and waxing distinguished by name, because they are different services at different prices
- Whether the visit was walk-in or booked, if you price those differently
- Any prepaid brow series drawn down, with the visits remaining
- Sales tax on your services if your state charges it, and on retail products separately
- Tips kept off the service lines and added at the till
- Subtotal, sales tax if you charge it, and the total due
- Any deposit or payment already taken, and the balance still owed
- The due date, and what happens if it goes past it
- How they can pay — card, bank transfer, check or cash

Why bother invoicing a $15 brow thread?
For your numbers, not for the client's benefit. Line-itemised tickets are what tell you that brows-plus-lip is half your Saturday revenue, or that the Brazilian slot earns four times per hour what a walk-in brow does. If you only ever record a lump sum at close, you find out none of that. The receipt itself is the client's copy, texted or handed over, and takes seconds.
How do I handle walk-ins with no counter staff?
Ring the visit on the till on your phone, then either take the card there or show the QR page and let her pay from her own phone while you clean up the station. The invoice marks itself paid. Cash is a tap on the same screen and needs no card setup at all — a lot of shops in this trade run cash-heavy and that side costs nothing to record.
Should I sell a brow series or a membership?
A series of set visits is simpler and safer than a recurring charge. She buys six, you invoice the six on the day she pays, and each visit draws one down with the remaining count printed on it. No recurring billing to argue about, no cancellation conversation, and a very clear reason to come back. Print the expiry term on the series invoice.
Do I charge sales tax on threading and waxing?
Depends entirely on your state — some tax personal-care services, plenty do not, and nearly all of them tax the retail brow gel you sell at the counter. Ask your state revenue department or your accountant once, set the rate, and let every ticket apply it. Separate service and retail lines are what make that possible.
How do I keep a regular's history straight?
Save the client once and every ticket lands under her name. Six weeks later you can see what she had last time, what she paid, and whether she is on a series. That beats a paper book, and it beats trying to remember whether the brow shape you did was hers or her sister's.
What is this going to cost me?
Nothing to write tickets, keep clients or run the till, however many you do in a day. Card payments carry our 0.5%, on top of what the processor takes; cash carries nothing. If you later want your shop's logo on receipts, receipt scanning for your supply orders, or a second person on the account, that is $9.99 or $24.99 a month depending on which you need.
