A barber does not need an appointment system with a customer relationship database attached. • Your business name, phone number and email — and your license number if your state puts one on the paperwork
• The customer's name, the service address, and a phone number or email you can actually reach them on
• An invoice number and the date the work was done
• Which barber did the cut — this is the number chair rent and splits are argued over
• Each service on its own line, so a cut-and-beard is not one unexplained figure
• Products sold separately from services, because the tax treatment usually differs
• Cash sales recorded the same way as card, or your week's total is fiction
• The tip as its own line, kept out of the service price
• Your shop name and phone on the receipt, because a receipt is a business card people keep
• Subtotal, sales tax if you charge it, and the total due
• Any deposit or payment already taken, and the balance still owed
• The due date, and what happens if it goes past it
• How they can pay — card, bank transfer, check or cash

Do I need a card terminal?

No. The counter till shows a QR code the customer scans with their own phone camera and pays with the card already in their wallet — Apple Pay and Google Pay included. There is no terminal to rent, no reader to buy and nothing to charge overnight.

How do I track what each chair took?

Every sale records who rang it up, so the week's total splits by barber without anyone keeping a private tally. That is usually enough to settle chair rent and commission without an argument, because both sides are reading the same list.

Should I still write a receipt for a cash cut?

Yes, and this is the habit that pays for itself. A shop that only records card sales has books that understate the business, which hurts at tax time and hurts far more the day you want a loan or a lease. Ringing cash up takes three seconds and makes the total real.

What if a chair renter wants their own records?

Give them their own login. Each person's sales are recorded under their name, so a renter can show what they took and you can show what the shop took, from the same source. A renter running their own books is a business, and this is the paperwork side of that.

Can I sell product without a whole point-of-sale system?

Yes — add the product as a saved item once with its price, and from then on it is one tap at the till. Nothing to scan, no barcode setup, no inventory module to configure before you can sell a bottle of beard oil.

Is there a catch to it being free?

Not really.
